Finishing Techniques

In this workshop, you will learn the basic skills needed to finish a garment. Topics include basic seaming, weaving ends invisibly, three needle bind off, sewn cast off and blocking.

7:00 pm to 9:00 pm Fee $42

Materials

  • one skein of worsted weight yarn in a light sold colour
  • 4 or  5 mm straight knitting needles
  • darning needle
  • scissors
  • Before the first class, you will be required to prepare a number of swatches:

Swatch A (make 7):  Cast on 24 sts

Row 1:  Knit

Row 2:  Purl

Repeat Rows 1 & 2 until swatch is 4” tall.

Cut yarn leaving a 1 m long tail.

Place swatch sts on waste yarn.

Swatch B (make 2):  Cast on 22 sts

Row 1:  k3,(p2,k2) repeat until 3 sts left, p2,k1

Row 2:  p1,k2,(p2,k2) repeat until 3 sts left, p3

Repeat Rows 1 & 2 until swatch is 4” tall.

Place swatch sts on waste yarn.
