Taking the Guesswork Out of Gauge
This class is perfect for new knitters who need help understanding gauge – ie. how to measure it and what to do if your gauge doesn’t match the pattern gauge. We will also discuss “ease” and how that affects the fit of a garment. Armed with these skills you can be confident that your projects will be successful!

Materials
- Measuring tape or ruler
- Calculator
- Pencil
- Two swatches as follows:
Make 2 identical swatches using worsted wt 100% wool in a light colour (eg Cascade 220) on 4.5mm needles:
Cast on 28 sts
Rows 1-4: K28
Row 5: K3, P22, K2
Row 6: K28
Repeat Rows 5 & 6 until swatch measures 4″ tall
Repeat Row 6 three more times
Bind off
Wash & dry one swatch per the yarns washing instructions. Leave the other swatch unwashed
