My First Colourwork Mittens
Make a pair of traditional Norwegian Selbu mittens in DK weight yarn. These mittens are relatively simple to knit up using one of two designs by Norwegian designer Skeindeer Knits.
This class is suitable for those who have some experience with colourwork knitting ie. can knit with two colours per row using their preferred style. This class would be ideal for those who have already taken the Beginner Colourwork class. Students should also be proficient with knitting in the round either using DPNs or one long circular needle. There will be a review of general colourwork techniques including colour dominance, tensioning and catching floats. Emphasis will be on knitting the thumb gusset and picking up stitches for completing the thumb. Students will complete one mitten during the class.
