John Arbon Textiles Yarnadelic

The moment I read about this yarn I knew it would be perfect for our store.  When we unboxed it today I was amazed with the softness, lustre and complexity of colours.  Yarnadelic is 100% Falklands Corriedale. The breed is around 100 years old and was derived by crossing the Merino and Lincoln Longwool. Its properties are a perfect balance of delightful softness and bounce from the Merino combined with the slight lustre and long staple length of the Lincoln Longwool.

By giving this yarn a rounded 3 fold structure, it has enhanced the fibres natural stitch definition and drape creating the ideal all round go to yarn for everything from cables to lace and garments to accessories.

This Corriedale is farmed in the Falkland Islands – ensuring that the animals have been treated with the utmost care and are free from harmful mulesing. The fibre has then been dyed in the UK and lovingly prepared, blended and spun at the John Arbon mill in North Devon Mill.

This yarn range inspired by John Arbon's eclectic record collection – everything from punk to funk. John played the mill folk a few of his favourites and, whilst sipping a few glasses of chilled wine, they all wrote down the colour each song evoked. Then the hand carders came out and they began creating shades to illustrate the sentiment of each song – and thus the palette of 18 melange shades of Yarnadelic was born.
