Hedgehog Tweedy DK

Hand dyed bits of waste yarn are processed into new yarn, creating colourful speckles. Initially available in natural and black (Tweedy & Tweedy Noir), there are now two new colours, Lullaby & Bliss. As well as using thread waste, they also use recycled wool, making 50% of the total content recycled. It is soft, yet wooly, nonsuperwash and it blooms beautifully after washing. One skein makes a perfect, cozy hat, but it is just calling out for a speckled sweater!

Knitting for Olive Pure Silk

By Helen Danforth | | 0 comments
Knitting for Olive Pure Silk is a soft, fingering weight yarn of pure bourette silk (raw silk) produced from silk fibers collected from cocoons after the chrysalises are allowed to mature into moths and escape.  Silk has extensive heat-regulating qualities and can therefore be used in garments all year round.  Silk can absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture while still feeling dry against your skin, so it is especially suitable for summer wear.  At the same time, silk, like wool, has insulating properties, retaining heat in cold weather. The little butterfly on the label indicates that the...
